The 2025 Taiwan Innotech Expo (TIE), jointly organized by 11 governmental ministries and executed by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) and the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), successfully concluded on October 18, 2025, attracting exhibitors from 19 countries and 442 participating companies.  Held under the theme, “AI-Driven Cross-Domain Innovation: Empowering the Smart Future”, this year’s expo featured three pavilions, which are “Innovation Economy Pavilion”, “Future Tech Pavilion”, “Sustainability Pavilion”, along with “Invention Competition Area” and showcased over 1,100 innovative technologies, fully demonstrating Taiwan’s AI deployment and efforts in the key industries, such as, the semiconductors, ICT, green sustainability, national security, and healthcare.

“Innovation Economy Pavilion” connects, by applying AI technology, the five major themes, including next-generation communications, semiconductors, precision health, smart machinery, and energy transition, guiding visitors to explore AI’s potential in daily life and industrial upgrading with curated exhibits and interactive experience.  A highlight was brought into the exhibition, the “Life Theater—Massive Devices Digital Twin Performing Technology”, which was recently unveiled at the Osaka World Expo.  By applying AI-driven automatic image distribution, multi-screen and multi-axis control, and light-and-shadow performances, the installation delivered a stunning and immersive visual experience .

“Future Tech Pavilion” concentrated on six major themes—intelligence robotics, quantum technology, sports technology, AI application and academia-industry collaboration, chip-based industrial innovation program, and Future Tech Awards—to showcase 220 technological achievements.  Among these achievements, the “Temporary speed restriction” presented by National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology, which integrates disaster early warning, traffic control, and intelligent monitoring, is able to detect track anomalies in real time and effectively reduce the risk of collisions between trains and intruding vehicles, and hence, is hailed as an “invisible guardian of commuting safety”.

Organized jointly by the six major ministries, “Sustainability Pavilion” centered on three core pillars—circular sustainability, resilience empowerment, and smart innovation—to demonstrate Taiwan’s concrete actions in addressing global sustainability challenges.  The Ministry of Agriculture created a non-contact monitoring system, the “AI smart livestock and poultry health monitoring technology”, with thermal imaging, image recognition, sound analysis, and IoT technologies, effectively enhancing livestock/poultry farm management and animal welfare and also facilitating agricultural transformation toward sustainable development.

The highly-anticipated “Invention Competition Area” featured a total of 554 patent entries competing for the Platinum Award this year.  In the domestic inventions area, Chunghwa Telecom and National Atomic Research Institute are the top award winners bagging 16 medals and 13 medals, respectively.  In the educational institution inventions area, Kun Shan University and Ming Chi University of Technology stood out to win 14 and 12 medals, respectively, demonstrating the outstanding innovation capacity in academia.  In addition, in the overseas inventions area, organizations such as the Korean Invention Promotion Association (KIPA), Thailand National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT), and Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI) delivered outstanding results, collectively winning 73 patent awards.  The event also attracted buyers from many countries, including the U.S., Germany, Poland, and Uganda, who actively engaged in partnership discussions.  Several exhibitors were successfully matched with angel investors, while an exhibitor from Hokkaido, Japan reached a preliminary agreement with Taiwan’s Ministry of Agriculture on technological collaboration, showing significant commercial potential.  These achievements further strengthen TIE’s position as a vital international hub for promoting innovation and patent exchanges.

Besides, the “Taiwan Patent Go” curated by TIPO showcased 40 inventions winning the awards from the National Invention and Creation Awards.  Among these technologies, 11 medical-related patents were implemented to create a “Smart Clinic” scenario, allowing visitors to step into a simulated environment and experience firsthand the envisioned applications of AI-driven healthcare.  Moreover, Coretronic Corporation’s patent titled “projection system and projection method” was featured in the interactive experience zone to demonstrate the sophistication and appeal of its underlying technology.

The 2025 Taiwan Innotech Expo concluded successfully and once again displayed Taiwan’s strong capabilities in integrating AI, sustainability, and innovation.  The next exhibition is scheduled to take place from September 17, 2026 through September 19, 2026 at the Taipei World Trade Center Hall 1 and is expected to spark another trend of global innovation.  Please visit the official website at https://www.inventaipei.com.tw/ for more information about the exhibition and the list of award winners.  (Released 2025.10.18)
