Honda Taiwan admitted on 6th that it purchased Ta Ching’s factory buildings and facilities at the cost of nearly 2.8 billion, and it will begin to change the places into a vehicle assembly factory with an annual output of about 50,000 vehicles.  Honda Taiwan expects to return to the market of domestic vehicles in the second half of next year the soonest.

After Japan-based FHI (SUBARU) unilaterally announced termination of cooperation in April 2002, Ta Ching Motors Co., Ltd. has stopped production of vehicles.  In addition to selling its production facilities to Honda, Ta Ching has also disbanded over 200 employees working in the Pingtung factory.  This fact has brought Pingtung County Government’s concern given that the rate of local unemployment may increase thereafter.
