In order to protect the Intellectual Property right and have Taiwan struck off from the U.S. "special 301" watching list, the Board of Foreign Trade of the MOEA made the decision to revise the Trade Law.  Under new regulation, exporters who fail to print the origin code on the exported CDs will be punished and if the extent of infringement is severe, the registration of importer or/exporter will be canceled according to law.

The amendment proposal is that Paragraph 2 of Article 17 of the Trade Law provides that  if the depiction of origin code and place of origin does not follow the regulation or the depiction is incorrect, the actor should be punished pertaining to Article28 of the Trade Law and the fine will range from NT$30,000 to NT$300,000.
